verzichten è un verbo regolare che significa “rinunciare a”, “fare a meno di” o “astenersi da”. La costruzione tipica è auf + accusativo (auf etwas verzichten). Participio passato: verzichtet; al Perfekt usa haben. Non è riflessivo. Molto comune con alcol, diritti e abitudini.
Esempi
Die Partei verzichtete auf den Kandidaten, weil interne Konflikte eskalierten.
Il partito ha rinunciato al candidato perché i conflitti interni sono degenerati.
