halten è un verbo forte e irregolare che significa «tenere», «fermare» o «mantenere». Il participio passato è gehalten e l’ausiliare è haben. Al presente: du hältst, er hält; al passato: hielt. Esiste anche l’uso riflessivo sich halten, per esempio sich an Regeln halten = attenersi alle regole.
