Means 'related' or 'akin', often about family or similarity. Used as an adjective: 'to be related to someone' takes the preposition 'mit' (e.g. 'mit jemandem verwandt sein'). Gradable (verwandter, am verwandtesten) and opposite 'fremd'. Also used metaphorically for closely connected concepts.
