nennen means 'to name' or 'to call' (to label). A regular (weak) verb using auxiliary haben; perfect participle 'genannt'. Transitive—requires an accusative object (jemanden/etwas nennen) and commonly appears with 'als' (jemanden als X nennen). Not reflexive or separable. Widely used in spoken and written German.

She gave him the address.
Der Bürgermeister nannte das Projekt wichtig, obwohl viele Bürger Bedenken äußerten.
