adjective
done, cooked
B1
Gar means 'done' or 'cooked' when describing food: fully cooked or ready to eat. It is not gradable and mainly used for dishes ('Die Braten sind gar'). Not a verb, no reflexive form, no auxiliary. Also appears as an intensifier in some contexts but primarily describes doneness.
