Our website uses cookies. These are small text files that are stored on your device. Most of these cookies are necessary for the website to function (e.g., session cookies). We also use Matomo, a self-hosted analytics tool, which we have configured to operate without cookies for your privacy.

4. Analysis Tools and Advertising

Web Analytics (Matomo)

This website uses Matomo, an open-source web analysis service. Matomo is hosted on our own server in the European Union. No data is transferred to third parties.

Matomo is configured in cookieless mode. No tracking cookies are stored on your device. Instead, a temporary, anonymized session identifier is used that is not stored beyond the current browser session.

IP Anonymization: We have activated IP anonymization on our server. As a result, your IP address is masked (last 2 octets removed) before storage. The full IP address is never saved.

Logged-In User Identification: If you are logged in, we transmit a one-way hash (SHA-256) of your internal user ID to our self-hosted Matomo instance. This hash cannot be reversed to identify you. It is used solely to distinguish individual users in aggregate analytics (e.g., unique visitor counts). No name, email address, or other personal data is ever transmitted to Matomo.

Opt-Out You can opt out of analytics tracking at any time using the opt-out function below. This will set an opt-out cookie to tell Matomo not to track you.

6. Hosting and Content Delivery Networks (CDN)

Our website is hosted on Cloudflare (Workers/CDN). The provider is Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Personal data processed on our website is stored on servers within the European Union. Cloudflare is used to ensure fast and secure delivery of our pages. The use of Cloudflare is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in a safe and efficient online presence).

7. User Accounts and Registration

If you create a user account, we process your email address, display name, and profile picture (if using Google OAuth) to manage your account, save your learning progress, and customize your experience. This processing is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR (performance of a contract). You can delete your account at any time in the settings, which will permanently delete all your data.

8. SSL/TLS Encryption

For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content (such as login requests), this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the address line of the browser changing from 'http://' to 'https://' and by the lock symbol in your browser line.

9. Right to Lodge a Complaint with a Supervisory Authority

In the event of violations of the GDPR, data subjects have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of their habitual residence, place of work, or place of the alleged violation.
